Agents of the National Police and the Ertzaintza have arrested 26 graffiti artists, 10 of them in Euskadi and Navarra, to whom 463 criminal acts committed in these two autonomous communities are attributed.The investigation began in April 2021 to provide a police response to numerous graffiti carried out on railway and metro wagons in the Basque Country and Navarra by different groups of graffiti artists in recent years.After analyzing the documentation provided by the transport operators, the agents confirmed the existence of numerous facts that had not been clarified.Likewise, they asked the affected companies for photographic reports and expert reports on the damage, evidencing the high economic damage caused.The complexity of the investigation and the difficulty of identifying the perpetrators has been rooted in the criminal itinerancy of their actions, since they resided in different localities of the national territory and traveled from these to commit the crimes.Some of those investigated even traveled to other European countries to carry out their graffiti there.The operation has required great coordination between different police units and has made it possible to prove the authorship of many of the signatures or tags that appeared in the reported graffiti.Finally, the agents have arrested 26 graffiti artists, who are attributed a total of 463 crimes of damage to trains, whose provisional valuation of the damage amounts to almost two million euros.In addition, this investigation has made it possible to clarify acts committed in other communities, such as Catalonia or the Valencian Community.This website uses cookies so that you have the best user experience.If you continue browsing you are giving your consent for the acceptance of the aforementioned cookies and the acceptance of our cookie policy.TO ACCEPT
