Photo courtesy of La Fortaleza, headquarters of the Puerto Rico executive, where its governor Pedro Pierluisi (c) appears, accompanied by other officials during the launch of the works in the municipal cemetery of Lares.EFE/La Fortaleza /EDITORIAL USE ONLY /NO SALES /ONLY AVAILABLE TO ILLUSTRATE THE ACCOMPANYING NEWS /CREDIT MANDATORYGovernor Pedro Pierluisi announced this Wednesday the beginning of the construction process of the new temporary cemetery in this municipality, less than a year after signing executive order 2021-057 in which he declared a state of emergency for the infrastructure.Pierluisi participated in the ceremonial acts of laying the first stone in which he was accompanied by Mayor Fabián Arroyo and the executive director of the Infrastructure Financing Authority (AFI), Eduardo Rivera.The investment for the design and construction of the temporary municipal cemetery, which is located near the Félix Méndez Acevedo Coliseum, is 2.3 million dollars."I recognize that the municipalities are the government structure closest to the people, so my commitment is firm in helping them and giving them the resources they need to serve the residents of their towns well," said Pierluisi.The executive order urges AFI and the Office of Management and Budget (OGP) to carry out the work as soon as possible.The governor explained that this project includes the design of the new temporary cemetery, the permits and the construction of concrete platforms for the installation of more than a thousand prefabricated niches.
