CALIFORNIA - Products coming from the ports of Los Angeles and on their way to store shelves are reportedly ending up in the hands of criminals during their journey by train. And apparently they are doing it with all brazenness, because they leave empty boxes and garbage everywhere and this would be happening very close to downtown Los Angeles and Lincoln Heights. The Telemundo 52 cameras captured the moment when two individuals came out of the wagons of a freight train, with tools in hand, but someone would have warned them that the cameras were filming them, so they tried to cover themselves. But they were in the middle of a worrying postcard, with hundreds of empty packages on the train tracks.“There are things in there, there is everything,” said Luis Díaz, a resident of the area.Díaz assures that he was a railway employee and this left him with a bad memory."It's been a problem for a long time, I was working in 1999 and we always had that," Diaz said. The number of cardboard boxes of stolen products can be seen on the bridge at the intersection of Mission Road and Valley Boulevard in Lincoln Heights.“I see the trains and they stop and there is nothing, there should be security,” he added.Neighbors have complained about the lack of railway surveillance.Diaz said that he carried a knife in case he needed to defend himself. And neighbors have resorted to always being cautious in case of an emergency on the streets near the train tracks.“If I see something, I take out [the knife] and they [criminals] see it.It has happened to me many times,” Diaz said."Maybe more police or you see, crime is not going to end," said Diana Ramírez, an alert mother.Very close to the tracks, Ramírez said that she was walking through Lincoln Park, where we also saw empty cardboard boxes, possibly from laptops that would not reach her destination. For its part, the Union Pacific company informed us that they are already aware of the problem and are collaborating with law enforcement agencies to address the problem.A spokesman for the ports told Telemundo 52 that all the containers were already in secure areas.
