Ottawa Fire crews tackle two long weekend fires - CityNews Ottawa

No one was injured during an early morning fire in the Vanier area.

The Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received multiple 9-1-1 calls on Saturday, July 31, reporting visible flames from the second storey of a single family home between Bradley Avenue and Ste Anne Avenue.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down around 2:15 a.m. and was under control around 3:53 a.m.

A  fire investigator was called to scene. The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army will be assisting those affected by the incident.

The previous day, July 30, OFS reported non-critical firefighter injuries after responding to a fire in an unoccupied structure. 

At 6:43 p.m., OFS received multiple calls reporting smoke coming from the roof of a residential structure on Besserer Street near Nelson Street.

After seeing smoke coming from a second floor window of a multi unit building, firefighters made their way to the third floor. 

Active hydro connections presented hazards on scene. 

An Ottawa fire investigator is determining the cause.
